Advanced Technology
CED Technology
Hoag continues to pioneer innovative medical and surgical advancements and invest in highly-skilled clinical teams to perfect these specialized services. By choosing Hoag, you can rest assured you’ll have access to the latest health care technologies, and be in the most expert hands.
Many of these new health innovations, such as robotic surgery, offer patients shorter surgeries, less pain, faster recovery times, and more accurate diagnoses. Other advancements, such as telehealth and electronic medical records, offer added convenience and enable patients to better manage their health after their hospital or doctor visit.
The da Vinci Surgical System is an advanced computer-assisted surgical system designed to refine the surgeon’s capabilities to offer a cutting-edge, minimally-invasive option for major surgery.
With six da Vinci Surgical Systems between both campuses, five Xi in Newport Beach and one Xi in Irvine, Hoag has more robots than any other hospital in Orange County, California. This advantage to having the most robots available means Hoag patients may enjoy more convenient scheduling and less wait time before their procedure.
The da Vinci Surgical System is utilized to treat a variety of conditions and Hoag’s Robotics program involves over 80 nurses and technicians, 42 surgeons and 10 surgical specialities. Hoag is a designated Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery (COERS) from the Surgical Review Corporation, and has also been specifically recognized as a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology (COEMIG™).
What if distance was no longer a factor in accessing high-quality health care and medical expertise? What if a physician could diagnose an illness without having to travel to the patient? With the implementation of Telehealth services in Hoag’s Emergency Department and other care units, Hoag patients can interact quickly with the best medical professionals and specialists, regardless of their location.
Hoag’s commitment to innovation and superior patient care is evident in the development of Hoag’s Telehealth program. By connecting patients, physicians and other care providers through a secure and compliant two-way HD video conference system, Hoag’s delivers faster, more comprehensive health care services to our patients.
Clinical Research:
Hoag is committed to leading the way in state-of-the-art technologies and advanced treatment options, including groundbreaking clinical research. To remain at the forefront of innovative care, Hoag’s Clinical Trials and Research team works collaboratively with physicians to oversee research studies, and help physicians identify appropriate clinical trials and eligibility criteria specific to their patients.
Launched in 2016, this program brings the latest advances in genomic technologies, targeted therapies, and research to patients. The program currently focuses on applying precision medicine to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cancer.
Applying a precision medicine approach to cancer involves the use of novel genomic technologies, such as tumor profiling, to identify genetic mutations – changes in the DNA sequence of a gene – as well as changes in RNA, protein expressions, and the immune system that are driving an individual’s tumor.
Oncologists can use this information to select targeted or precise therapies that will be most effective in attacking the genetic mutations that are causing cancer while minimizing unwanted side effects. Instead of a one size fits all approach, precision medicine aims to treat each patient individually based on the unique characteristics of his or her tumor.
Hoag Family Cancer Institute continually works to provide the very best care for our patients. Our Precision Medicine Team of highly-regarded industry experts are a testament to that.
