Exceptional Clinical


Hoag’s New Grad Nursing Program is built on an evidence-based curriculum, offering a safe learning environment, and high-quality resources. We are committed to providing a supportive, structured and hands-on learning environment, combining skills practiced in clinical settings while combining classroom learning. Current Hoag nurses work alongside our new grads to help ensure they are successful during the transition to their first professional role.

Working in a support role while you are in school or looking for your first job provides the opportunity for you to build your confidence with your own team, and learn the ins and outs of the nursing floor.

Decide on whether this specialty/floor is for you.

Length of Program

The average new grad stayed in a support role for 6 months before transitioning to a Clinical Nurse position. (*based on our 2019 participants)

Transition times are subject to each participant’s capabilities and unit openings. Department leaders work directly with staff to gauge appropriate promotion timelines based on their individual performance, confidence, and desire.

What to Expect

  • 1:1 preceptor training
  • Structured classroom and 1:1 based orientation
  • Customized learning/education modules
  • Designated Nursing Educator: A mentor who is able to provide a customized learning journey. Providing the tools and resources to be able to care for our patients safely with confidence
