Helpful Information about COVID-19 updates, policies, and options
The safety of everyone who walks through our door is the highest priority for Hoag. To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, and consistent with recent California Public Health Orders, Hoag has adopted a policy that all employees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 unless a medical or religious exemption has been granted.
Six Degrees of Separation, also known as “Bacon’s Law”, asserts that any two people on Earth are only six or fewer acquaintance links apart. The theory was first set out by Hungarian writer Frigyes Karinthy in his 1929 short story Chains. In it he suggests that the number of acquaintances grows exponentially with each link in the chain, and it only takes a few chains, or connections, to make up the whole of the human population.
In 2016, Facebook’s research team decided to test “Bacon’s Law” and show just how connected a planet we live on. After crunching the data they found that the actual degrees of separation to IRL Kevin Bacon was 3.57! With that number decreasing daily, it’s no surprise that the majority of people say they landed their most recent job through someone they knew. Question is, how do you network your way into a new career during a pandemic?
In this week’s issue, you’ll find an article that offers 8 smart ways to network while you’re stuck at home. A video that teaches you how to leverage LinkedIn to increase your connections (plus a bonus downloadable networking checklist). A podcast that helps answer questions like, how to stay focused and energized, and how to best work on yourself during the pandemic. And finally, an app download recommendation that will allow you to send mass personalized SMS messages to your network for free.

Quote of the Day
“I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.” – Brené Brown #QOTD
